Rally di Roma Capitale has been included in the first provisional list of events to be included in the 2017 European Rally Championship series. Â
This event is a recent addition to the Italian rallying scene, promoted by Max Rendina, 2014 FIA WRC Production Car champion, through the auspices of Motorsport Italia, the WRC team of which Rendina is a joint owner.Â
The stages on the event itself are run in the hills 60 to 80km to the east of Rome, but the rally starts in the capital where traditionally the cars parade in front of the Roman Coliseum. Close by there will be a superspecial in front of the square sided Colosseo Quadrato building landmark which was erected during Mussolini’s regime.Â
The 2017 event will continue to be run also as a national CIR Â championship rally, whose competitors will contest a shorter route than the ERC drivers.
