In a one-off return to special stage rallying, Carlos Sainz and Luis Moya celebrated a successful comeback to driving a World Rally Car when they drove a Skoda Fabia WRC to victory at the Rally Shalymar in Spain.
The 45 year old double World Champion and his best-known co-driver won all stages on the 150km asphalt event, despite some early brake problems. They won the rally by 5 minutes 21.7 seconds.Â
Sainz rented the Fabia from Czech team CRT-Skoda, who have been running Jan Kopecky in this year's World Rally Championship. Kopecky has taken world championship points on 5 out of the 10 events he has started this year.
