In keeping with a long-standing tradition of sponsoring high-profile motoring events, Lightforce Rally SA – Australian Rally Championship and Rally of the Heartland will become the latest events to attract Shannons support.
With the sponsorship applying to both Lightforce Rally SA events, it marks Shannons’ return to the Australian Rally Championship, but also a vote of confidence in Australia’s newest classic rally car event, Rally of the Heartland.
Lightforce Rally SA – Rally of the Heartland is a unique new event based in South Australia’s mid north. The inaugural event, run 2-4 June 2017, will feature the introduction of the longest special stage in Australian rallying. At 85 kilometres long this stage will challenge both competitors and vehicles alike, and marks the return of some classic elements of events past.
A specific highlight of Lightforce Rally SA – Rally of the Heartland will also be the first stage of the event, a 12 kilometre stage winding its way through a wind farm with a fantastic road surface, flowing turns, tricky hairpins and multiple crests. This stage was hailed as one of the best from the 2014 Sydney to London Marathon Rally by competitors, and it’s return to an Australian event is sure to be popular.
Welcoming Shannons sponsorship, event director Ivar Stanelis said it was an appropriate association of two great brands committed to motoring enthusiasts, run by motoring enthusiasts. “We are pleased to have Shannons involved with us again. It’s a great mutual fit and it will be a really positive development for our events, their competitors and officials, many of who are Shannons customers.”
Shannons are equally looking forward to the 2017 events. “Shannons supports enthusiasts in hundreds of events around Australia each year,” said Shannons business development manager, Jeff Hughes. “Many have a passion for Rally, as we do, and this is an exciting new opportunity for all of us.”
Lightforce Rally SA – Rally of the Heartland takes place 2-4 June 2017, followed by Lightforce Rally SA – Australian Rally Championship on 15-17 September 2017.
