Skoda Motorsport have confirmed their drivers for the 2018 Monte Carlo Rally in a Fabia R5. This is despite earlier suggestions made at the team's 2018 presentation that they would delay their World Rally Championship activities this year and not compete in Monte Carlo or Sweden. They will now send Jan Kopecky as an official works WRC2 entry to Monte Carlo.
Also competing on this event, but not as WRC2 entries, will be their regular team drivers Ole Christian Veiby (in a car to be run by the Toni Gardemeister team), and Kalle Rovanpera, in a car run by the Wevers team.
Although entries officially closed before Christmas, AC Monaco has still not issued the full entry details. Last year the Skodas of Andreas Mikkelsen and Kopecky finished seventh and eighth overall at Monte Carlo, and 1-2 in WRC2. Along with Corsica, that was Skoda’s top WRC result of the season.
