Bad news for WRC Promoter was confirmed at Skoda Motorsport 2019 season celebrations on December 11 when it was announced the company will not enter the WRC2 Pro championship in 2020. This further reduces the number of manufacturers officially active in the WRC after Citroen's recent departure. Skoda won this series in both the Manufacturer and the Drivers categories (with Rovanpera and Halttunen) in 2019. The team also announced, however, that in addition their cars had also won the WRC2 Amateur category with Pierre-Louis Loubet, while they were outright winners in three of the six FIA regional championships, as well as 23 national rally titles. It is reported that Skoda will continue to develop the Fabia R5 and will continue to provide services to its customers, but from now on, it will not continue to promote the racing and car brand by participating in the World Rally Championship team. Skoda Motorsport, meanwhile, have announced that more than 320 Fabia R5 cars had been sold to privateer and importer teams to date.
