In a glowing endorsement of the return to Coffs Harbour for the Australian Rally Championship, the Coffs Harbour and District Sporting Car Club have received a record number of entries for the ARC round on November 15.

Martin Quinn, Event Manager, said: “Competitors have voted with their entries and we are ready to take on what will be the best ARC of the year.

“We are very happy with the level of response and we expect that the NSW Championship and the All Comers Rally will be equally supported.

“We recognise it’s tough out there for many, but we are trying hard with a concept to suit everybody, and it looks like we are being supported,” Quinn added.

TRD’s Neal Bates will battle for honors against Simon Evans, Michael Guest and a host of other drivers. Bates, who set up his lead with victories in the first three rounds of the season, knows a good result will see him become just the third driver in the 41-year history of the ARC to win four or more championships.

“The team have been coming to Coffs for years to rally and we all really enjoy coming back whenever we get the chance,” Bates said.

“I have always enjoyed the rally roads in Coffs and the team enjoys the fact that the whole community really support the event. Everyone goes out of their way to make us feel welcome.

“Coffs has some of the best rally roads you could ever drive on, and it is also a beautiful place to go, so it is the ideal location to round out the season.”

The rally has its contrasts with the stars at the front and veteran drivers like John Berne driving a Subaru RS and Jeff David in his classic Porsche 911RS. Molly Taylor, daughter of TRD’s Coral Taylor, has entered as well, showing rallying is for all ages.
