Based in the small country township of Rawson, two hours to the east of Melbourne, a mix of crews and their vehicles will be tested on the fast, flowing and technical course as set by the event organisers.
Leading pointscorer in the championship, David Nutter in his Subaru WRX, will be put to the test as he tries to defend an onslaught of challenges from other top drivers, including Mick Fawcett, and past Australian Rally Championship drivers Jesse Robison and Will Orders.
Orders, in his Mazda RX7, whilst not only gunning for outright contention, will be keeping a close eye on past Two-Wheel Drive Championship winner, Brian Semmens, in his Nissan 200SX, with a host of other quick two wheel drive crews. These include Bill Sullivan in a Daihatsu Charade Detomaso, Andrew Taylor in a Mazda RX7, and the experienced Rex Muldoon in his trusty Datsun 260Z.
Of course, waiting behind these outright contenders ready to pounce on any mistakes will be a field of talented drivers, including those in the Hyundai Excel series, a low cost, high competition series, and the mix of Australian motoring heritage of Fords and Holdens that will surely bring a smile to those who see the cars with their big sideways action!
Officials are still needed for the event, and all volunteers will receive a special gift to remember the 50th running of the event, along with the opportunity to enjoy a free hot meal with other officials and the crews at the conclusion of the event.
