Subaru and Possum Bourne Motorsport set for rally return

Possum Bourne Motorsport and Subaru Australia built up an envious reputation throughout the 1990s and 2000s, headlined by Possum Bourne winning a record seven straight Australian Rally Championship titles. Now, after taking a lengthy break from rallying in Australia, the ‘unbeatable’ pairing may be back on the scene in the near future.

The WRX STI photo that appeared on the Possum Bourne Motorsport Facebook page.A recent Facebook post from Possum Bourne Motorsport announced that the first of three 2015 WRX STI S4s has arrived on site and they are working with Subaru Australia to develop a capable, entry level motorsport car from these vehicles.

The team at Possum Bourne Motorsport, based in New Zealand, will also be building a full spec 2015 WRX STi S4 R4 rally car for a customer.

Subaru’s withdrawal from the Australian Rally Championship was a sad day for Australian rallying. However, this recent news may bring some hope to rally fans.

With last month’s announcement regarding the exciting new ‘Maxi’ cars, the potential return of Subaru and Possum Bourne Motorsport could be another real boost for rallying in Australia.
