Tony Sullens enhanced his reputation as one of the sport's most underrated drivers after finishing in sixth place at the Rally of the Bay. Not many would have expected Sullens' front-wheel drive Citroen DS3 R3T to feature in the top 10 results, let along finishing in an incredible sixth place. The fast and flowing roads around Batemans Bay probably suit Sullens to a tee, and allow him to keep the speed up in the Citroen. But there are dozens of tightening hairpins to slow you down. “Wow, is all I can say” Sullens said.

“It’s the best field we’ve ever seen in a state rally in the history of Australia I reckon, and a top six – I’ll take any day. “I’ve driven as fast as I’ve driven in all my life today, and I’m really happy and rewarded. I’ve found new levels of comfort with the car, so it’s good.” A former Targa Tasmania winner and front-running ARC competitor in a Subaru WRX, Sullens could now be considered a veteran of the sport. Going by his stage times though, he's a long way from being over the hill just yet.
