Teams have taken to the forests around the nation's capital for this weekend's Rally of Canberra for some final testing before the action gets underway on Friday night.

With the event a round of both the Asia Pacific Rally Championship and the Australian Rally Championship, Rally of Canberra has attracted a wealth of experienced drivers and teams are leaving no stone unturned in their final preparations.

Past Rally of Canberra winners, Cody Crocker and Dean Herridge, will both contest the Asia Pacific component of the event this weekend, along with fellow Aussies Scott Pedder, Michael Guest, Eli Evans and Nathan Quinn.

Making his first appearance in Canberra is British Rally Champion, Guy Wilks, who will compete in his nimble Honda Civic Type R.  The international component also includes teams from Japan, France, Indonesia, India and New Zealand.

Current Australian Rally Champion, Simon Evans, will go into the event full of confidence despite having to retire from round 1 of the series in Western Australia with engine failure.  Evans, and team-mate Neal Bates, have both had a solid workout this week and hope to keep their Toyotas at the top of the ARC leaderboard.

Also driving Toyota Corollas this weekend will be young Victorian Glen Raymond and veteran Queenslander Stewart Reid.  Both will be hoping for podium places, however, with the likes of Spencer Lowndes (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9), Darren Windus (Subaru Impreza WRX), Justin Dowel, Steven Shepheard and Brenton Kaitler (all in Mitsubishis) in the mix, it will be no easy task.

Rally of Canberra begins on Friday, May 9.
