Young rallycross star, Troy Dowel, received some brilliant news ahead of his 18th birthday today, with his Leukemia now in remission.
"Last night we received the news that Troy is in remission. He has a further four weeks of intense chemo, followed by another six months of maintenance weekly chemo to ensure the cancer doesn't return," his father, Justin, said today.
"If all goes well, Troy might be racing again by May next year.
"We are so very grateful to the doctors, nurses and oncologist at the Monash Medical Centre in Clayton. Thank you everyone for your well wishes. And happy birthday Troy."
The news will put a spring in Troy's step as he hopes to continue his rallycross and rallying career.
