Most of us dream about finding a forgotten rally or classic car in a barn somewhere, that its owner had stored away and forgotten about many years ago. In reality, very few of us ever do, but we live in hope that someday, somewhere, we will come across an abandoned Audi Quattro or BDA Escort in a deserted shed.

Western Australian competitor Karl Drummond recently bought a large farm in Dowerin, WA, with the express intention of running motorsport events on the land. There was an old shed on the property, full of junk that the previous owner had stored in it. Unfortunately there was no long lost Datsun 710 or Lancia Delta to be found but in one corner stood an old rusted out refrigerator that had seen better days. Despite all the roofing iron having blown off the shed over the years, the fridge was still intact, and opening it revealed a well-preserved copy of the Australian Womens Weekly from October 29th, 1969.

Flicking through the perfectly preserved magazine, Karl found an advertisement announcing the performance of Datsun 1600s in the 1969 East African Safari, the Bathurst 500 and the Surfers Paradise 12 Hour events. Karl¹s still looking through other sheds on the property hoping that a real, live Datsun 1600 might be hiding under a pile of rubbish!
