The ups and downs of a novice ARC co-driver

I’m sure it’s a daunting experience for anyone going across the Nullabor to contest a round of the Australian Rally Championship, but for me, in only my third rally, I was pretty nervous.

I’d done everything I could to prepare for the event, and sitting next to Jason Lennane in his Proton, like I had previously, was something I was comfortable with. I thought I was ready to make my ARC debut.

Recce was something I looked forward to. I always enjoy driving rally roads, no matter what speed it's at, so Thursday and Friday's recce, while always big days, are well worth doing properly, both for pace notes and enjoyment.

The Thursday morning test we did was a success. We only completed five or six passes of the short stage, but it was still good to get back into a rhythm of reading notes and to re-gel with driver, Jason.
