Lewis Bates gave the Australian Rally Championship's new control tyres the thumbs up after finishing second at Batemans Bay.
In his first event on the new Hoosier tyres, Bates reported no issues with the new rubber.
"They offer better turn-in and more lateral grip," he said when asked to compare the tyres to last year's MRF control tyre.
Many of the leading crews ran Hoosier tyres in the rally, although there was still a good spread of other brands in use.
The Australian Rally Championship resumes in September with the running of the National Capital Rally in Canberra.
