In what was a challenging rally with 292 kilometres of special stages, the team overcame radiator damage and clutch problems to bring the car home undamaged. This was quite an achievement with the pace of the event taking its toll both mechanically and physically on competitors, with the well publicised accidents.
“The longer stages suited us,” said Bruce Fullerton, “with eight stages over 20km in length over the weekend. We found the roads challenging but very rewarding, and the format of the event, being quite compact, was excellent.”
“We had issues with our clutch all weekend and kept our service crew of Rob and Richard busy with a tight radiator change, but the car came through unscathed.”
“We used the Kumho 800 tyres and I was impressed with their performance and durability. We were not on the pace of the frontrunners but our tyre wear was manageable and I was happy with the Kumho’s performance.”
This result has left the Fullerton Financial Services-supported team third in the Premier League and 10th in the Australian Championship, after contesting only two of the three rounds run so far.
The car is now being prepared for the Scouts Rally of South Australia.
