The 2007 season has seen Stephen working tirelessly as crew chief with Mellissa in charge of event logistics. The pair have also squeezed in VRC driving duties between ARC events, and both have played an integral part in the Bendigo Bank Rally Team’s rise through the ARC ranks.
Team owner Roy Raymond commented "Melissa and Stephen are the backbone of our program. The commitment and support they have given Glen and Mathew has been endless, so they have well and truly earned a weekend off to pursue their own goals."
For many team owners thoughts now turn to 2008, and the Raymond team are no different. "We have some very exciting plans for next year,” Roy Raymond said. “I'm not in a position to announce specifics until we have had time to inform the crew and our sponsors, but you can expect an announcement closer to Rally of Melbourne."
While Stephen and Melissa Raymond take the opportunity to sit in the car rather than lay under it, it will be business as usual for Glen and Matthew Raymond who will be looking to continue their good form into the final event of the year. The reliability the team has been chasing from the ageing Subaru Impreza STI is now reaping benefits with the team sitting in equal eighth outright with Darren Windus' factory Ford Fiesta.
With the NGK Rally of Melbourne being the Bendigo Bank Rally Team’s home event, the loud and proud supporters who follow the team all over Australia will be out in maximum numbers next month to cheer on the STI and the Legacy.
