VW Motorsport have confirmed that there are at least two more rallies in which their erstwhile World Championship team will run rent one of their 2016 WRC cars to Raimund Baumschlager.
Raimund Baumschlager.These will be the Schneebergland Rally (24/25 June) and Rallye Weiz (22/23 July), round 4 and 5 in the Austrian national championship.
Previously Baumschlager competed on the Wellsselland Rally (where he finished second behind the Fiesta RS WRC of Hermann Neubauer), which was the third round in the series.
The possibility of further rallies has not been ruled out.
It is believed that the reduction of available personnel to run the cars on events is the reason why further car rental plans have not yet been made.
This is on account of commitments to ongoing Rallycross programmes, and the fact that many WRC personnel were available freelance people, rather than permanent VW Motorsport employees.
