Four tyre manufacturers have submitted tenders to supply tyres for the 2020 Australian Rally Championship, according to information given to RallySport Magazine. The championship currently limits competitors to a single brand of tyre, with MRF Tyres having held the contract since the start of the 2017 season. ARC competitors have been forced to run a control tyre for many years, but 2020 is likely to give crews more flexibility, and open up opportunities for varying brand options.
RallySport Magazine understands that Dunlop, Pirelli, Michelin and Hoosier have all tendered to supply tyres for next season.
It is believed that CAMS is still awaiting a final decision from current supplier, MRF, to become a fifth tyre supplier, although the Indian brand is believed to want to be the sole supplier once more. Each of the tyre manufacturers mentioned would be required to pay a fee to the Australian Rally Championship in order to become an official supplier.
