“It is with much sadness that I have to report my only son, Michael, passed away peacefully at RPAH (Royal Prince Alfred Hospital) after a short but savage illness,” his mother Helene said.

“We were always hopeful but never confident he would survive. He is at peace now.

“Always loved. Never forgotten.”

Michael was an active rally photographer in the 2000s and was the official photographer for Activ Rallysport during their championship winning year in 2011.

He also attended several rounds of the World Rally Championship in 2014.
