A large field of 28 WARC and 12 Clubman crews have registered to take part in the Trade Hire Donnelly rally to take place this Saturday around the Donnelly River, a popular holiday destination 300km south of Perth nestled between Bridgetown, Nannup and Manjimup.

With just four points separating second to fourth in the WARC championship and only eight points separating the top two in the 2WD championship, the respective battles are set to be fierce.

Leigh Hynes currently has an 11 point state championship lead thanks to back to back wins at the Experts Cup and the Lewana Stages rallies and will look to extend his lead on the weekend. Nicolas Box, who recently became a father for the first time, sits in second place in the state championship on 69 points but has Alex Stone (67 points) and John O’Dowd (65 points) breathing down his neck.

Kiel Douglas, leader of the 2WD championship, said he is looking forward to the next round to see if youngster Dylan King, who won the previous rally on his ‘L’ plates, can back up his performance.

“He did really well with a fantastic drive at Lewana,” Douglas said. “He kept it together when the rest of us just didn’t. They were pretty tough conditions and he is now keeping us all on our toes.”

“He is right up there with being second in the championship so I do see him as a little bit of a threat but we have warned him that we’ll use physical violence if he gets too close,” joked Douglas.

Spectators can view all the action from the spectator points on Andrew and Len roads respectively. If you are planning on coming to see the WARC field in action then please download the spectator instructions from www.rallywa.com.
