Rally driver Richie Dalton is one of the driving forces behind the Sydney to Armidale Water Run this Friday.
The run will take fresh water to drought ravaged Armidale, with more than 50 trucks already signed on to take part.
Well over 100,000 bottles of water have already been purchased by businesses and individuals to take to the Armidale community, as well as toiletries and clothes.
The Water Run will leave Sydney's Rosehill Racecourse at 4am this Saturday morning. It will have a police escort all the way to Armidale.
"It has really taken off, and we have already had great media support," Dalton said.
"Channel 7 will cover the event when it leaves Sydney and then arrives in Armidale, and we have also had coverage on radio across the state."
Truck drivers taking part in the Water Run will be provided with free accommodation at the Armidale University.
More donations are urgently need, and those interested in donating can purchase a pallet of bottled water for just $316.
