The fourth round of the Victorian Rally Championship has been postponed because of heavy recent rain in parts of the state.
The George Derrick Memorial Rally, which was also a round of the Victorian Club Rally Series, was to have been run on July 28.
“We cannot compare ourselves with the devastation felt by the wider Gippsland community with the recent weather events,” event spokesman Andrew Ormsesher said.
“However it was agreed that the Erica DS&E would not be issuing us with approval to run our event due to pre-existing road and infrastructure damage, and having visited the area, we think that's fair enough,” he said.
It is hoped that the event can be rescheduled for some time later this year, however in the meantime, competitors who had already entered the rally will have their entry fees refunded.
