The main rally event in the Paris Motor Show was the announcement of Microsoft as the sponsor of the new Toyota Gazoo World Rally Team.

Co-driver Stuart Loudon’s first rally with Mohamed Al Mutawaa ended prematurely.  Brake problems led to their Citroen DS3 R3T rolling off the road.  The crew extricated themselves, but then burned grass caused the whole car to be destroyed (pictured right).  Not stated was the fate of their pacenotes …

Left over news from last weekend:  Umberto Scandola won the CIR championship Rally di Roma Capitale in his Fabia R5.

Keith Cronin has clinched the Irish Tarmac Clonakilty Blackpudding championship with his Citroen DS3 R5.   Josh Moffett won the Cork 20 Rally overall in his Fiesta R5, beating the similar car of his brother, Sam Moffett, by 4.6  seconds.  Cronin finished the event in fourth place.

The Canadian championship Pacific Forest Rally was won by the Subaru of Antoine L'Estage, with British co-driver Darren Garrod

Skoda team driver Pontus Tidemand won the the Uppsala Rally, final round of the Swedish national rally championship in a Fabia R5.  Hopes for a battle with the Fabia WRC driver PG Andersson were dashed when Andersson retired very early on.  Second was Mattias Adielsson

Jan Dohnal’s 10 year old Focus WRC won the final round of the Czech Republic championship, the Pribram Rally.

Slovakian driver Vlastimil Majerčák won Rally Croatia in a Fiesta R5

Impending announcements.  Abu Dhabi Total WRT state that Stephane Lefebvre will be back in action at Wales Rally GB, but with a new co-driver to replace the injured Gaban Moreau.  Quentin Gilbert has won a prize drive in one of PH Sport’s DS3 WRCs on Wales Rally GB

55 entries have been received for next weekend’s Cyprus Rally (7-9 October), which qualifies for both the European and the Middle Eastern Championships.
