The British motorsport federation has renegotiated proposed charges for the rallying use of forests in England and Scotland at an annual increase of 5% for the next three years.  

An agreement has been concluded with the authorities governing Welsh forests for the Wales Rally GB to continue to use their roads for three years, at an undisclosed increased rate.  

No overall agreement has been reached till now for other rallies in Wales.  Earlier the Welsh authorities had requested an increase in charges of almost 100%

Special guests will include Miki Biasion, Sandro Munari, Markku Alen, Timo Salonen, Maurizio Verini and Mauro Pregliasco.  

In addition, Cesare Fiorio, Daniele Audetto and Tony Carello will be at the party for the “Alitalia celebrations”.

Third round of the new TER series, the Škoda Rallye Liezen in Austria, was won by Hermann Neubauer (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) ahead of Gerwald Grössing Gerwald (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) and Raimund Baumschlager (Škoda Fabia R5).  Neubauer became the new Austrian national champion.

Juha Salo won the Pirelli Tampere in his Peugeot 208 T16 R5 Evolution and took his tenth Finnish national championship title, and indeed the tenth title for Peugeot in that country.  

A notable third place on the event was taken by the Japanese driver Hiroki Arai, son of Toshi Arai, who even scored some fastest stage times. Australian Glenn Macneall was his co-driver.  

The final Finnish Championship points are 1. Juha Salo 140 (Peugeot), 2. Ari Vihavainen 82 (Mitsubishi) and 3. Ole Christian Veiby 68 (Skoda).

Mag promo 300 x 250The East Belgium Rally, based at St Vith (Thierry Neuville’s home town), was won by Cedric Cherain (Skoda Fabia R5) from Chris van Woensel’s Mitsbishi Lancer WRC and Freddy Loix’s Fabia R5.

Fiesta R5s finished one-two-three at Norway’s Hedemarken Rally, with Frank Tore Larsen beating Anders Grondal and Geir Helge Froslid.

With two events still to run, Cristian Garcia won Rallye Villa de Llanes and became the 2016 Spanish asphalt champion in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Group N+.
