The British clubman’s championship Plains Rally was comfortably won by Tom Cave’s Fiesta R5 Evo. This central Wales rally is expected to be the final forest rally in Wales before proposed severely increased prices are imposed.
These increases threaten the future of the sport and are widely considered unfair, not least as they impose on the sport the costs not only of the damage created by rally cars, but also the passage of logging trucks.
There is evidence that the sport brings considerable support to local communities, and ironically there is consequent concern whether the world championship Wales Rally GB this year can be run.
