Consistent rains in most of Eastern Australia has forced the postponement of the 2010 Classic Outback Trial.

The event's website says that the heavy rainfall over the past three weeks has covered the entire course. Forests NSW, the Shires and the property owners have advised that many of the roads will be impassable for the next three to four weeks, even if the rain stopped.

"After considering a number of factors, including of course time to allow the significant standing water that has occurred over the past week to drain away, and the roads and tracks to dry out, together with major sporting activities in September and early October and accommodation availability in the towns the Trial visits (some of which have major activities over the coming weekends) it has been decided to postpone the Classic Outback Trial to October 10-16," an event spokesman said.

Entries were due to close Friday, August 13 and will now close on Friday, October 1.
