The third round of the British Rally Championship got underway yesterday, with four night stages, including three runs of the famous Castletown stage.
Teams coped well with the bumps and kerbs, with Mitsubishi’s Guy Wilks emerging on top of the BRC runners, keeping this position until the return to the TT Grandstand for the overnight halt.
His team-mate, Gwyndaf Evans, was just three seconds behind after the four stages, with championship leader, Mark Higgins, disappointed to be a further 7.4 seconds back in third. Higgins’ brother, David, struggled on the opening stage in his S2000 Toyota with a stall, but fought back to fourth, albeit nearly 40 seconds behind.
Irishman Eugene Donnelly leads the rally in his Subaru Impreza World Rally Car, nearly nine second clear of Andreas Mikkelsen’s Ford Focus.
