Young Victorian speedster, Arron Windus, is set to reap the benefits of winning this year's state championship with a number of choices for his 2020 season. Windus dominated the Victorian Rally Championship in a Subaru Impreza WRX, and set a string of impressive stage times in the concurrent ARC round in Ballarat in August. His initial plans are to contest next year's national championship, but he has also had strong interest from two international teams keen to secure his services for events in 2020. It was initially thought that Windus' ARC option was to drive a Volkswagen Polo for the Activ RallySport team, however, he's now understood to be considering a rebuild of the Subaru that he crashed in the Akademos Rally. The GC8 model Subaru attracted a huge cult following in the VRC this season, and driving the car in national events against the factory Toyotas and the other leading R5 and AP4 cars would give the young Ballarat driver a real point of difference. The badly damaged car would either be rebuilt, or respelled. He has also attracted interest from both New Zealand and Japan, which he is currently weighing up.
