Rally Germany and Wales Rally GB could get a reprieve and be included in the 2021 World Rally Championship calendar.
Because of the ongoing uncertainty because of COVID-19, the WRC is likely to be a European-centric championship next year. It means that the Safari Rally in Kenya might miss out again.
"As of today, a World Cup run on the American or African continent is unthinkable," outgoing WRC Promoter boss, Oliver Ciesla, said.
"It is important to avoid having to cancel events again. This could also be the reason why, contrary to the internationalisation strategy, the coming season will mainly be driven in Europe for once.
Asked if this meant that Germany and GB could return, Ciesla added:
“At least one - if not both - should still come in. This is in everyone's interest."
Rally Australia has already been listed as one of the nine events guaranteed a spot in 2021. Rally New Zealand looks likely to miss out.
