The 500 Car Club of Tasmania (established in 1956) will be running the Apple Valley Rally in the picturesque Port Huon area of Tasmania

The Apple Valley Rally consists of 4 stages running in the afternoon and repeating in a night session. A total of 85km will see 12 rally crews battle it out in a variety of cars.

As Tasmania’s premier pacenoted gravel, rally pacenotes will be supplied by a Tasmanian business “Rally Notes” who’s owner will also be stepping outside of his comfort zone as a co-driver and taking on the challenge to drive for his team.

North West pair Kurt Wylie and Matt Best will be travelling south to strut their stuff.

Kurt, a young 22 year old, has been involved in motorsport for many years watching his father Andrew Wylie compete. Kurt has been in the driver seat for the past 4 years and has achieved a number of outstanding results including attending the Australian Institute of Sport in 2011 with the Driver Development Program.

Matt Best, the “old man” of the pair, started racing in 2010 as a co-driver and has been involved in numerous Targa events. Matt was named 1st Outright Co-driver in both 2013 and 2014 via Motorsport Club of Tasmania and received 2nd Outright Co-driver in 2012 Tasmanian Rally Series.

Wylie and Best joined together in 2013 with a season that had its ups and downs including a crash out of the Hellyer Rally (2nd round) leaving them finishing just outside the places in the 3rd round of the series. 2014 sees the team continue to improve.

The Apple Valley Rally will push them through their paces and prepare them for the next rally series round where Kurt will be giving his father Andrew Wylie a run for his money as both father and son compete against each other.
