Perth-based New Zealander, Mike Young, will contest Rally Australia for the first time this November. A regular in the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship in a Team Cusco Subaru Impreza WRX, Young will switch to a front-wheel drive car for the final round of the World Rally Championship. He’ll be behind the wheel of a Citroen DS3-R3 prepared by Ron Cremen’s ‘Race & Rally Hire’. The Citroen sports a 1.6 litre turbocharged engine producing 210bhp through the front wheels - a big change from his usual all-wheel drive Subaru.

New Zealander Mike Young will drive a Citroen DS3-R3 at Rally Australia.

Before that, however, Young will contest September’s Rally Hokkaido, a round of the APRC, in which he’ll drive yet another car. For the first time he’ll get the chance to drive Cusco’s Toyota Yaris AP4. “It will be a great chance to sample an AP4 car and to see what all the fuss is about,” he told RallySport Magazine.
“I’m sure it will be a lot different to my regular Subaru, but it’s an experience I’m really looking forward to.”
The Rally Hokkaido runs from September 15 to 17. The week after Rally Australia, he’ll contest the India Rally, the final round of the 2017 APRC.
