Four Australian crews finished in the top ten, and Snooks Motorsport is offering logistical assistance to any Australians wishing to travel to the Dunedin for the rally.
The Classic Otago Rally has developed a reputation and status as the premier Classic event in the southern hemisphere. It is based at Dunedin, located on the east side of the lower end of the southern island.
Attracting nine Australian entries in its field of 39 in 2007, the event was conducted over a distance of 700 kilometres, of which 270 kilometres (40%) were competitive. Stage lengths were challenging, with six being over 15 kilometres, the longest being 46km.
Conducted over Saturday and Sunday, each day provided three service breaks, each located mostly after two special stages, and all the servicing took place in the one location, some 35 kilometres south of Dunedin. This means the service crews can set up just before the rally and remain in the one location for the entire event.
Dunedin provides all the amenities required for a major rally, with quality (but not over-priced) accommodation, restaurants and service facilities.
Here is a great opportunity for those who wish to travel to New Zealand for the event to join with Snooks Motorsport in the venture, and benefit from their experience gained in 2005 and 2007.
Snooks Motorsport can, at best available pricing, arrange for:
➢   special overseas entry packages available from the Otago Rally organisers
➢   hire of car in New Zealand
➢   shipment of cars to and from New Zealand (allow at least a two week turn around each way)
➢   team management, with advice on logistics
➢   flight bookings
➢   accommodation bookings
➢   servicing facilities
➢   arrangements for New Zealand navigator, if required
Although the 2008 event is some time away (May 2008), arrangements need to be made as early as possible to secure best shipping, flight and accommodation prices.
