In 2009 the Historic Rally Association plans to re-run the first few days of the Repco Reliability Trial (Melbourne to Kingoonya) in the form of a touring road event.

The event will be run in similar style to the successful Redex and Ampol Re-runs run by the Peugeot Car Club of Victoria in 2003 and 2006.

The re-run will start at the Melbourne Showgrounds on August 8, 2009, and take approximately eight days to traverse the original route between Melbourne and Kingoonya.

Competition will be in the form of special tests. These tests will include autocross (dirt circuit speed events), closed road sections, khanacross, and motorkhana. The original road book will be used as much as possible.

Car eligibility will be pre-1980, with no special preparation needed, just safety equipment as per the TRE Regulations.

The route will pass through Tooboorac, Bendigo, Mayborough, Ballarat, Heywood, Mt Gambier, Renmark, Murray Bridge, Mt Compass, Adelaide, Burra, Curnamona, Broken Hill, Frome Downs, Parachilna, Marree, William Creek, Coober Pedy and Kingoonya.

The presentation function will be held at Port Augusta.

For further information contact the organiser, Graham Wallis, on 0429 939619 or ewal7731@bigpond.net.au if you are interested in being involved as an entrant or official.

Involvement from people who competed in 1979 is highly encouraged.
