Leading New South Wales driver, Michael South, has showed his class by taking out the Death Adder Dash, the first round of the 2007 NSW Rallysprint Championship.

Driving his Spec C Subaru Impreza WRX, with wife Sue in the co-driver’s seat, South led home a host of Mitsubishi Lancers in the event, which was conducted by the Central North Coast Sporting Car Club last Saturday.

In second place were Dave Darby and Shane Griffis in a Lancer Evo 3, with the similar car of Peter Leicht and Paul Mountford third.

Former Corolla Cup one-make series driver, Steve Forsberg, brought his Lancer Evo 6 into fourth place (with Craig Wyburn), while another Evo 3 was fifth, with Chris and Chrissy Jaques on board.

Lindsay Collits drove his off-road special Mitsubishi Pajero in the event and took seventh.

The first two-wheel drive cars home were Darrell Wilesmith and Russell Skefington in a Holden Commodore (11th), and Doug Muxlow and Ken Slade in a Toyota Sprinter (12th).

Thirty-five cars finished the event, with a further six failing to make it to the end of the six stage event.
