Australian cricket bowlers Shaun Tait and Dan Cullen have taken the chance to sit beside Pirtek Rally Team's Michael Guest during the shakedown for this weekend's Rally South Australia.

Tait who bowls at speeds of 160 km/h enjoyed the experience of sitting in the Super 2000 Ford Fiesta rally car.

"Incredible car control, it's definitely a skill" said Tait.

"I was impressed at many levels. The driving, the car and the professional team behind it all.

"I grew up in the Adelaide Hills not too far from where we had the run at Mount Crawford. I now have a better appreciation for why this event is so popular.

"I'm pretty happy with my career choice with cricket, but I'd like to give driving a go some day."

Cullen was impressed with the ride and amazed at how hard a co-driver has to work.

"I just went for a ride, but it must be an amazing trust that the driver has with the navigator," said Cullen.

"Michael was very committed through blind corners and over crests. He clearly knew the road, but over a 200-kilometre event the work of the co-driver must be critical.

"I really enjoyed the experience. I made sure that the boys have my name down for next year."

Michael Guest was thrilled to have two young stars of Australian cricket in the passenger's seat.
