Second generation rally driver, Cody Richards, took a thrilling five second victory in the 2018 Nissan Nightmoves Rally, the second round of the Victorian Club Rally Series. Driving a Ford Escort with new co-driver, Matthew Dillon sitting alongside, Richards overcame an early 10 second time penalty to beat home veterans Brian Semmens and Dan Parry in their Nissan 200SX. It made up for the disappointment of round one of the VCRS for Richards, when his Escort suffered electrical problems before the first stage even got underway. In cold and dusty conditions around Heathcote in central Victoria, the event attracted 41 entries. Daryl King and Chris Barrett brought their Toyota home in third, with Joel Wald (Stanza) and Justin Lange (Escort) rounding out the top five. The leading retirement was Jason Lennane in his Proton Satria, who hit a tree on the third of the event's seven stages. Final results, 2018 Nissan Nightmoves Rally 1.
