In attendance were ARC Organisers, Team, Rallycorp and CAMS representatives. Mr Osborne commented that “the meeting included people with what added up to be literally hundreds of years of rally experience.”
The roles and structure of Rallycorp, the Australian Rally Commission and their respective advisory bodies were detailed for the benefit of those present together with clarification of the lines of communication between the two bodies and their support groups.
A newly comprised ARC Working Group will make recommendations to the Australian Rally Commission on sporting and technical matters affecting the NEC Australian Rally Championship. This group is the liaison between the commercial and the sporting aspects of the NEC ARC. It includes representatives of the manufacturer teams, the organisers, Rallycorp and the Commission. The ARC Marketing Working Group will report directly to Rallycorp on marketing and other commercial opportunities for the NEC Australian Rally Championship.
A range of services and financial benefits are provided to ARC event organisers as a result of the sponsorships and other backing obtained by Rallycorp, including the provision of medical services and a free to air television package. An increase in lead times to complete these negotiations was agreed to be highly desirable, particularly for the benefit of those events conducted early in the year. A commitment was also made to increase the number of multi year agreements with suppliers and supporter wherever possible.
Mr Osborne commented “I believe significant ground has been made in the meeting. All the stakeholders of the sport share a common goal and together with some new developments in the ARC such as the launch of the international Super 2000 category, CAMS can see an exciting future for the ARC. The benefits of the changes that have been made will be seen once these structures have been allowed to work for a year and should see a strong foundation for further growth in 2008 and beyond.”
