Alister McRae may be one of the legends of the sport, but even the great Scotsman needs to go back to basics at times. Well, perhaps not that far back! At a test day in Western Australia last Saturday, McRae was given a 1996 copy of our 'How To Start Rallying' book. He was quick to get his son, Max, into the fray, to give the youngster a few more tips as he embarks on his own rallying career. The book may be over 20 years old, but long-time WA rally competitor and mechanic, Fats Liddle, dug it out as a bit of a joke. The McRaes took it in the manner it was intended, and happily posed for some photos. Interestingly, the foreword in the book was written by Alister's brother, 1995 World Rally Champion, Colin McRae.
