According to the event director Dave Aitchison, this year’s Bathurst RSL Club Rally of Bathurst on May 16 & 17,  Round 2 of the Pipe King Southern Cross Rally Series, is shaping up to the best yet.

“I’ve been pleased with the number of new and old competitors the event is attracting, plus the quality. Quite a number of interstate drivers are heading to the event, including three teams from Queensland,” he said.

The two day event is to be held in the Sunny Corner State Forest and will feature a lengthy competitive distance of 230km, with only 110km of liaison stages, and featuring a unique central service area with a spectator point at the rear of the service area.

“This is a traditionally fast and tough rally with little relief between competitive stages. We have done our utmost to keep the competitive driving and endurance as the focus of the event.”

The battle to win the event outright will feature the very fast local Bathurst driver Chris Schofield, last year’s runner-up Southern Cross Series Champion, and quick local Gareth Morgan-Thomas in his Subaru WRX.
