Toyota stars Elfyn Evans and Sebastien Ogier will tune up for the Ypres Rally WRC round when they tackle a local event on October 25. Neither driver has any experience of the Belgian roads, so Toyota Gazoo Racing has entered the pair in the Hemicuda Rally in Koekelare. Evans currently leads the world championship, with Ogier second. However, a fast-finishing Thierry Neuville has plenty of experience of the Ypres Rally, and will be hard to beat. The duo will start as the first two cars on the road in Ypres, which is expected to be an advantage as the tarmac stages are expected to become muddier with the passing of each car. "Obviously the testing is very limited so we have to look at all options. We’re hoping we can get as much mileage as possible and prepare as well as we can," Evans said. Despite the WRC's best intentions, the Ypres Rally may still be in doubt, as their were 7,360 new Coronavirus cases in Belgium on October 14. With winter approaching, those numbers could go even higher as the whole of Europe is enduring the dreaded second wave.
