With only 12 weeks to go before the Southern Mountains Rally, over 70 crews have already sent in their expressions of interest forms.

This has forced organisers to rethink their maximum entry limit, which has now been lifted to 80 cars, plus reserves.

Crews from the following states have already registered their interest:

6 crews from Queensland
7 from the ACT
29 from Victoria
31 from New South Wales

Organisers are in discussions with two international drivers, hoping to lure them to the NSW south coast for the rally. It is believed that Jimmy McRae and Stig Blomqvist are at the top of their list.

The rally will be a round of the Aussie Duct Southern Cross Rally Series, with control and road closure officials wanted. Anyone wanting to assist with the event should contact Jim White on 0404 830 629.

The Southern Mountains Rally will be held on November 1 and 2.
