Some of the biggest names in tarmac rallying are in Burnie for this weekend's Rally Tasmania which kicks off with a ceremonial start in the Burnie CBD this afternoon.

Jim Richards, Jason White, Cody Croker and Tony Quinn are just some of the drivers contesting the annual event.  White, with co-driving uncle, John, will be out to impress on his home event, in their awesome Lamborghini Gallardo.

The rally has attracted over 100 entries, with vehicles including everything from the usual tarmac weapons, Subaru Impreza WRXs, Porsche 911s and Mitsubishi Lancer Evos, to Mini Coopers, Ford Escorts and even a Holden Commodore Ute and a Hyundai Tiburon.

Action starts on Saturday morning at 8am and spectator information can be downloaded from the rally's website www.rallytasmania.com.au
