Justin Dowel and Scott Spedding have strengthened their grip on the 2014 Victorian Rally Championship with a convincing victory in round two of the series, the Marysville Stages.
Driving a Lancer Evo X, the pair lead home the Evo VI of Franco Liucci and Niall Gavin, with Alan Friend and Michelle Canning third, and first two-wheel drive, in their Nissan Silvia.
Some of the pre-event favourites failed to make the finish. Warren Lee’s Lancer caught fire on SS1, while Wayne Stewart’s Subaru WRX suffered engine problems mid-way through the event.
In the Victorian Clubman Rally Series (VCRS) event that ran in conjunction with the rally, it was the experienced Brian Semmens (Nissan 200SX) who finished equal first with the Datsun Stanza of Cary Seabrook.
Andrew Pannam’s Impreza WRX was third, followed by Grant Heywood’s Datsun 1600 in fourth.
