March 2nd's Mitta Mountain Rally sported one of the strongest state-level fields to have been assembled in years, the event playing out as a great battle for outright and category results.
Despite a Mitsubishi whitewash, for outright, the podium place-getters were a mixture of teams from both states, and most interestingly each was on a different brand of tyre.
On an administrative level, the Victorian and NSW state panels have been in contact with each other (teams and the Mitta organisers) post-event and are developing systems to further improve smooth delivery of inter-state events.
The two panels are very aware of the strategic future of the sport and want to strive to ensure the best possible outcome for crews, events and partners.
The key areas of interest are leveraging the combined events to give all parties the best value and ensure partners are represented in accordance with each state's requirements.
Come June 29, the Victorian and NSW teams will go head-to-head again in the forests surrounding the picturesque town of Batemans Bay in the AMH Automotive Group Rally of the Bay.
The East Coast Classic Rally Series teams will travel south later in the year for another combined NSW/VIC event to attend the Alpine Rally from November 29 at Lakes Entrance.
