DustTrails, Episode 10: Windus in Europe

After just five rallies, Arron Windus was thrown into the deep end with a drive for Vauxhall in the British Rally Championship and he discusses his European experiences on the podcast.

The then 19 year old Windus had won a round of the Victorian Rally Championship but was ultimately very inexperienced.

Joining Mattias Adielsson and Rob Duggan in the Vauxhall Junior Team, he signed a two-year deal to compete in the British Rally Championship.

Some said it was too early, and some commended him for chasing his dreams.

In what turned out to be a turbulent trip overseas, Windus learnt lots of valuable lessons in rallying and in life, and he’s forever thankful for it.

His upward progression has continued on ever since, and now clearly sits as one of the fastest drivers in the country, regularly challenging at the front of the Australian Rally Championship field.

Windus explains how the Vauxhall deal came about, what they were required to contribute, as well as the problems and issues that arose during the 2016 season.
