The Gold Coast Tweed Motorsporting Club Inc is again conducting its often lauded Border Ranges Rally on Saturday, August 8.
Based just over the NSW border in Urbenville, the mostly daylight rally will again use those fantastically smooth gravel shire roads which rate as some of the best rally roads in Australia. A new and exciting concept for 2009 is a short Super Special Tarmac Stage starting right in the township of Woodenbong. This is will be run both in daylight and as the last two stages in the early evening.
Two daylight spectator points and one night time point have been arranged for easy access and great spectating. Spectator instructions will be available free of charge at the Urbenville & District Bowls Club. With less transport kilometrer than competitive kilometres, the format is definitely competitor friendly.
Urbenville is approximately two hours from Brisbane by what must rate as one of the best drives in the south east corner.
The event will be open to “all comers†in any road registered rally car (yes, you can run your Group G grunter type vehicle).
Scrutineering will be held in both Brisbane and on the Gold Coast. Trophies will be presented for all classes. Presentation will be immediately after the rally at the Urbenville Bowls Club. Overnight camping is available at the Service Park in the Urbenville Showgrounds – right next door to the Bowls Club. Food will be made available by the local Services Clubs who make the event their annual fund raiser.
Supp-regs are available now via both the GCTMC web site www.gctmc.org.au and the www.borderrangesrally.com.au website. $250 will get you an entry.
