Details are being finalised at the French federation FFSA for the move from Citroen to M-Sport as official supplier of cars for the 2017 young French drivers’ rally championship.

MSport-FiestaM-Sport look likely to win the contract for France's junior category.Information released during Neste Rally Finland confirmed that the plan is for the cars to comply with a new “National  R2” specification.

The engine will be a small turbo three cylinder, one-litre unit, but in standard form, with standard cooling facilities as used on standard production cars.

Transmission will be with a sequential gearbox, brakes will be improved, but dampers will be non-adjustable, and general cost limitations are paramount.

Current discussions are centred on if and how the same cars can then be upgraded to full R2 specification if required.

The events planned for the car will be a mixture of gravel and asphalt stage rallies.
