Dunedin rally driver Emma Gilmour has had to make some hard decisions, following a mechanically disastrous start to the 2019 rally season.
Her Suzuki Swift AP4 has failed to finish the first two rounds of this year's New Zealand Rally Championship, forcing Gilmour to make the decision not to enter the Lone Star Canterbury Rally on June 1.
“The championship chase is non-existent for us this year now, which is hugely disappointing after all the effort and money spent in the off-season.” Gilmour says.
“To get things right for the remainder of the season and looking forward to the future, we are going to skip Canterbury to get things 100% sorted and to do some testing.
"We plan to come back for Rally South Canterbury on June 22 and have a good finish to the NZRC over the final three events.
"We know the car is fast and now we just need the reliability to match it,” she adds.
