After winning four of the day's eight stages, Ford's Marcus Gronholm has finished Leg 1 of the Rally of Cyprus 6.4 seconds ahead of Sebastien Loeb.  Rough and rocky roads were again the order of the day, resulting in a number of retirements, including Dani Sordo, Henning Solberg and Matthew Wilson.

Mikko Hirvonen is again proving his worth as Ford's second driver, finishing the day in third place, ahead of Manfred Stohl (Peugeot), Chris Atkinson (Subaru), and the Citroen pair of Xavier Pons and Toni Gardemeister.

Subaru's Petter Solberg again suffered wretched luck.  After winning SS4, gearbox problems reduced him to only first gear and he lost seven minutes on the last two stages of the day.

Leg two sees the crews compete in the hills east of Limassol, with two loops of four stages.
