Exciting young rally driver, Will Orders, will contest at least the first two rounds of the Australian Rally Championship after a number of sponsors and supporters raised enough funds for him to start the 2007 season.

Orders will have the ex-Darren Windus Subaru Impreza WRX at his disposal this year, but for a long time it appeared as though he would be unable to make the start because of a lack of dollars.

However a number of friends and sponsors, including existing sponsor TSV Holdings, put in many hours work to raise the capital that will allow Orders to at least contest the Queensland and Western Australian rounds of the championship.

As expected, Orders’ team will share many resources with Dean Herridge’s WA-based Subaru team. The two teams will share mechanics, tyre changing facilities, accommodation and a number of other resources, ensuring that both drivers will be in action at the start of the championship.

While Orders will use Yokohama Tyres, Herridge will continue his association with Pirelli.

Likewise, Herridge has so far only confirmed that he’ll contest the first two rounds, but hopes to be able to source the funding for a full campaign shortly.

“It should be a good set-up,” Herridge told RallySport Magazine today. “Will and I will basically run separate teams, but will share the resources at the rallies, which makes a lot of economical sense.”
